StreamlineMD and its team will be attending the 2019 RBMA Paradigm Conference April 14-17 in Colorado Springs. Below is a summary of StreamlineMD radiology coder Kristen Bickel Sliwinski’s coding presentation on Saturday April 13, 2019.

What Does the Final Radiology Report Support?

Presented By Kristen Bickel Sliwinski, CCA, RCC

Charge capture in radiology is challenging. Departmental charges may be submitted before the final interpretation is authenticated. However, as the final report supports both the facility and provider charges it is important to confirm that it clearly defends all charges submitted. The session will be presented in a hands-on format where attendees will review actual reports for common imaging studies and procedures to practice spotting areas that may delay reimbursement or deny appropriate charges considering the current coding conventions.

At the conclusion of the session, the attendee will be able to:

  • Define what areas of the final report may be used to support charges
  • Identify areas of opportunity for improved dictation within their own groups
  • Assess the value of implementing an internal QA/review process
