StreamlineMD’s Pain Risk Stratification Tool

StreamlineMD has introduced a new tool for Pain Risk Stratification. This tool helps our pain management physicians/practices to manage their patients utilizing different pain risk levels.

This tool helps pain management practices remain in compliance with urine drug screens (UDS) based on the patient risk level, which is particularly helpful for practices with in-house labs looking to avoid running afoul of any fraud and abuse rules and/or regulations. The pain practice is able to define patient risk levels and set rules which can alert staff when a UDS is required.

Some examples of prompts for these alerts are:

  • Based on High, Moderate or Low Risk levels
  • Based on time intervals, (i.e. every 30 days, every 3 months, every 6 months, etc.)
  • Based on medications they are prescribed
  • Based on new patient status

A color can also be associated with the risk of the patient.  The color shows when the patient chart is opened.

This tool also allows the practice to view the pain risk level history of the patient.   This history will show items like:

  • Change in risk level
  • Date the change was made
  • Reason for the change
  • Notes added at the time of change
  • User that made the change
