BACKGROUND

December 1, 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the final rule for 2021. This final rule includes updates on policy changes for payments made under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This final rule confirmed there will be increase in Relative Value Units (RVUs) for Evaluation and Management (EM) services which will result in an increase to reimbursement for these services. But because the budget neutrality adjustment remains in place (as required by law), to account for this increase, the Conversion Factory (CF) will drop. A drop in the CF affects reimbursement for all you do – ALL ENDOVASCULAR & INTERVENTIONAL SPECIALISTS!

Beginning 2021 the CF will drop by $3.68. In 2020 it is $36.09 but for 2021 it will only be $32.41.
